| Duplication or Replication?
L O D America provides quality
copies in the following formats:
CD
The
CD is everywhere. It's with us in our homes, in our cars, in our portable
CD players and our computers.
L O D has produced thousands of CD copies for our customers. Corporate
radio spots, training seminars, audio books, independent artists and everything
in between.
CD-ROM
The Internet and the development of high quality software have turned
our computers into great communication resources. More and more people
are using computer based media to get their message across.
The CD-ROM is capable of storing and reproducing high quality video and
audio content. It's light weight, compact size and versatility have made
it a universally accepted format for the exchange of information.
We've provided CD-ROM copies of video presentations, interactive tutorials,
computer programs, product introductions and even virtual tours.
DVD
Because of its compact size, convenience, durability and outstanding quality,
DVD has become the preferred format for home movie entertainment. Now,
with its popularity and affordability, the format is rapidly making inroads
into new markets.
Small companies and corporations who, until now, relied on VHS to distribute
their video presentations, are switching to DVD. Production companies,
colleges, advertising agencies and summer camps have begun to take advantage
of the format's obvious advantages.
We can create a DVD from your existing video tape. With this master disc,
we can then create as many DVD copies as you'd like.
Duplication or Replication? What's the difference?
Typically, smaller quantities of CDs or DVD copies are duplicated, while
larger quantities are replicated. But there are several factors involved
and both methods have their advantages.
DUPLICATION
Duplicating discs involves the process of "burning". The copies
are made using towers containing drives, similar to those found in your
PC, resulting in copies in the CD-R and DVD-R formats. The copies are
made directly from the master disc and it usually takes much less time
than replication.
Usually, a customer requests printing (an imprint) on the finished disc
(text, graphics, a logo) to identify its contents.
Imprints are made using a thermal printer in a single color or multi colors.
REPLICATION
Replicating discs involves the process of "pressing". A glass master is
made which is used to stamp or "press" the discs at high speed in large
quantities.
Replication offers single and multi color silk screen printing on finished
discs. Typically a 1,000 piece minimum is required. In smaller quantities
duplication is used.
